Who is Lottie Moon?
On July 7, 1873, Charlotte “Lottie” Moon was appointed as a missionary to China. With a bold spirit and a heart full of love for the Lord, she dedicated her life to sharing the gospel with the people of China — faithfully serving until her passing on December 24, 1912.
Lottie’s life was marked by deep compassion, courageous obedience, and tireless commitment to God’s call. Her sacrificial life demonstrated the impact one person can have when fully surrendered to Christ. She inspired many others to consider their role in missions. Through her heartfelt letters home, Lottie encouraged churches to support missions through their prayers and giving.
Those efforts led to the creation of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® for International Missions, which continues today — supporting missionaries around the world as they share the hope of Christ.
Lottie’s story reminds us that faithful service to God can make an eternal impact. You can make an eternal impact too, following Lottie’s example — by praying fervently for missionaries around the world and giving sacrificially to help take the gospel to the nations.
