Growth Track

What is Growth Track?

Our prayer at River Oak Church is that we will faithfully proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and graciously equip our people so “that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28) – growing together by living every day captivated and changed by Jesus!

We learn an amazing truth in the gospel of John that “all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). That means when we follow Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become His children!

The River Oak Church Growth Track is designed to help you unleash the potential that you have as a child of God to live the rest of your life in victorious obedience to God’s plan for you! As God’s children we are called to live for more than this world has to offer. We have been given the privilege of declaring God’s message of grace, and loving and serving our family, friends, community, and world for His glory.

God’s Word serves as our spiritual food as we “grow up into our salvation” (1 Peter 2:2) and become faithful followers or “disciples” of Christ. We’ve divided our Growth Track into four six-week Bible studies that cover key Scriptural truths that are important to understand, embrace, and live out as we mature in our faith.

The Growth Track is organized around four simple questions that we use at River Oak to help us measure progress in our spiritual growth:

Am I Following Completely?

The first six-week study about “Following Completely” focuses on five key promises that God has made to ALL His children. Studying these promises and memorizing the verses assigned each week will equip you with assurances from God’s Word to combat some common doubts that arise in believers’ hearts. We will then conclude the six-week study by addressing the important first step of obedience that God calls us to as His followers – public profession of our faith through baptism.

Am I Changing Continually?

The second six-week study about “Changing Continually” focuses on how children of God experience transformation as we mature in Christ. We will study the importance of seeking first God’s kingdom, relying on His strength, and renewing our minds through His Word. We will also consider the importance of fellowship, connection, and accountability as we learn to walk daily with Jesus and exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Our prayer is that we will grow together and become “rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith” (Colossians 2:6-7).

Am I Living Generously?

The third six-week study about “Living Generously” focuses on how we are called to align our priorities with biblical principles and invest increasing amounts of time, energy, and resources for God’s kingdom. We will study the importance of loving and serving others like Jesus loved us and examine how to use our spiritual gifts to serve within our church and community. Jesus also tells us, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). We will see that maturing in Christ involves more than just using our time and talents for Jesus. We are also called to grow in financial generosity for the cause of Christ.

Am I Multiplying Disciples?

The fourth six-week study about “Multiplying Disciples” focuses on the commission to “make disciples” that Jesus has given to all His followers.  We will start by examining our responsibility to tell others what God has done for us and to share with them how they can have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We will then learn how to share our personal testimony in a way that clearly communicates how we came to faith and learn a specific method called the “3 Circles” for explaining the Gospel message to unbelievers.  We will conclude the Growth Track with a study on the power of spiritual multiplication!
