Baptism is a public profession of our faith in Jesus Christ and outward expression of the inward change that Christ has made in us. Baptism by immersion is a one-time act of obedient identification with Jesus as Lord. It serves as an outward sign of our conscious confession of repentance and faith. We baptize by immersion after salvation because it is a matter of:
- Submission – Our Lord commanded all who become His disciples to be baptized (Matt. 28:19-20).
- Identification – Our Lord was baptized as an example for us to identify (Mark 1:9-10).
- Definition – The word “baptize” comes from the Greek word, “baptiso” meaning “to make fully wet, to dip or immerse.”
- Representation – Only immersion baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new believer (Romans 6:3-4).
Baptism At River Oak Church
We are very excited to begin offering Baptism again here at River Oak Church. While it may look a little different than in the past, we still want to celebrate this act of obedience with you and your family.
Our pastors will offer individual time-slots for each person being baptized and we would love your family and friends to attend with you. All of the baptisms will be recorded to share with our church family at the Thanksgiving service on November 22nd at 6:30 pm.
Please complete the Baptism form and select the time that is convenient to you. We will be in touch to set up a time that one of our pastors can meet with you prior to your baptism date.
We look forward to sharing in this special time with you and your family. When you arrive for your service, please enter in Lobby B. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before your allotted time. We will have a t-shirt for you to change in to and ask you to bring shorts/leggings, a towel, a bag to put wet clothes in and clothes to change into after you are baptized. We ask that you and your family please wear masks.
We will be in touch soon to set up a time that one of pastors can meet with you prior to your Baptism service.
Please let us know if you have any questions at all.
This form allows us to get to know you and your spiritual journey. Please fill out the baptism form below.
We offer these baptism classes to provide a deeper understanding of what baptism means and to provide logistical details of our baptism service.
Call or email the office if you have any questions or concerns, or if we can walk you through the process in greater detail. We look forward to celebrating your baptism with you!
